French Carousel's Rock!

Today we drove to Metz France to see what a French Christmas market was like. It is much the same as German markets except that the carousel rocks! For the Frandsen's, Christmas markets have been a perfect outing, something for everyone. There is shopping for me, food for Mark (and me), and the girls LOVE the carousel's (so do I). BUT, the Metz carousel beat them all. It was so bright and sparkly. It catches your eye from blocks away and as you draw closer (because you just can't help yourself) you hear the pretty Christmas music. It makes me feel like I am riding on a life size music box and all for the grand price of just 2 euro! Bailey ran right up the grand staircase to the second level, yes, the second level! McKenna chose the tea cup that we spun around and around. Even as an adult I felt the giddiness of childhood as I was surrounded by the bright lights, music and the beautiful horses. Of course the best part is the look on the girls faces, pure delight! We walked around to the booths and one in particular caught my eye. It was gigantic, the biggest booth of them all, right in the middle of the square. It really deserved that spot, it was full of chocolate and decorated so wonderfully. I took a picture of how they presented the chocolate, giant bricks stacked 8-10 high. There was milk, dark, white chocolate with you name it nuts, coconut, marshmallows . . . It was just splendid. We tasted churros that we watched being made, and of course waffles dipped in . . . chocolate! Now, you just can't leave France with out a pastry, so I stopped at a patisserie. Tomorrow morning as we sit down to eat our croissant for breakfast (and I will add hot chocolate) we will reminisce about the magical carousel and the grand chocolate stand. Ohh-la-la!
