When you are a child, there are certain words that just get the best of you. No matter how hard you try, or not try if you like the way it feels on the tongue on it's way out, you can't fix it. I remember I had 2 words that were buggers to get right. The first was magazine, I would say mazageeen. The second was spaghetti, I would say ba-sgetti. Even when I was beyond the age of 10, I would have a slight pause when saying, "Please pass the . . . mazageen or ba-sgetti" Mark had difficulty with "pa-sgetti" anything that had a "s" or a "sh" sound in it. Bailey said punkin instead of pumpkin but that is all I can remember. I'm sure there were more. I hate that I can't remember!
McKenna has a couple of those words. This is how our conversation goes, "Mom, I'm the Narderader (Narrator) for one of the plays in drama club. I sawl (saw) you in the back and pointed my thingers (fingers) at you." I do not correct her, she has teachers that can do that. I just smile and nod, and in my head I'm thinking "Whoot! Whoot! she is still a little girl in that 7 year old body"
McKenna went big and bold for her 100 project. There were very little rules and specifics. I pulled out the tri-fold, paint and marshmallows (the supplies she asked for). We brainstormed a bit and realized the most important components had to be marshmallows and her 3 favorite dogs, Roxie, Adah and Benny. She would have included Chip but I couldn't find a photo. This is what McKenna came up with and I didn't think it was possible, but . . . I'm even more in love with this kid!!
So yes, I'm holding on for dear life to that little girl. I will mourn the day when she pronounces Narrator, saw and finger correctly. Until then, I'll give a little shout out each time she uses her unique pronunciation and celebrate one more day that I get to have a child's mind in my life. Hold on for dear life . . . it goes quick.

Oh she is a special one for sure. The fact that she can talk a mile a minute is a testament to her language skills, childlike or not.
She can tell the stories for sure. Her project was awesome! I was really proud of her writing.
Love you McKenna
I love her project she has a lot of heart and that is what is important in this world. Ellie pronounces her l's with a w sound. I was asking her questions about school the other day and she said "Wisten!... I don't want to talk about it any more." Such a grown up thing to say but spoken with such a wee voice. I'm holding on there with you.
Our little Mylee has a drawl that is to die for! I love to hear that girl talk!!! And....I don't try to make it go away either!!
Kids, ya gotta love them!
