Can I get a Bonn Bonn

We decided to take a little day trip on Monday since the kids were out of school.  I had been wanting to go to Bonn for awhile, it is known as the birthplace of Beethoven.  You can actually tour his childhood home!  Well, unless you are a Frandsen and you decide to day trip on Fasching.  It was a trip I tell you, like Bonn on Fasching crack!
Here's my peeps on Bonngasse, waiting for the crazy to begin.

And thar' she blows, her top that is.  I can't figure out if this is on purpose or maybe a little mishap after too much jagermeister and the fellows decided to play a joke on the sweet old ladies throwing out the candy.  But, uh, maybe they aren't sweet old ladies after all, they were hammering the crowd with candy, not gently tossing.  Can't you see that missys overhand?
Whew!  We needed to take a breather and fill our bellies.  Look at the arugula on my tri-color pizza.  Who knew arugula rocks pizza?  I do!

McKenna is feelin' the crazy.  She is crazy for lasagna.  In a bowl.  That was a first.
Back out on the street with renewed energy and along comes the men in costume.  All I can say is, they are dressed up like little girls and I. don't. get. it.

Here is the conversation (not so much a conversation said out load, but in our heads) with McKenna as we came upon a 7 foot tall man dressed as a ladybug.  Mom, "Look McKenna, there's a ladybug!" McKenna looks around searching for the joy.  Makes eye contact with the Ladyman, you can see the joy ebb, she wants to feel joy, it is a Ladybug er, Ladyman afterall.  She is smiling, but it is the smile that says, this is not Ladybug joy, this is Ladyman creepy and I am quite disappointed.
The kids in the end are awarded with a Waffelmeister, which is Whhhaaaaayyy better than touring Beethoven Haus right?!  We didn't stand a chance in fulfilling our itinerary.  But I will say that Fasching is HUGE over here and every single crazy (I mean person) was so happy! There was dancing, drinking, candy, roses, candles, waffles (flying in the AIR!), and we were together as a family once again learning something new about this German culture we love so dearly.

Sounds like fun to me!Can't go wrong with a Waffelmeister. Especially if it is falling out of the sky.
