Fest with a step back in time and a roller coaster on the side

Before my mom came to visit us in Germany, she threw a carnival party for her "local" grandkids. It looked like a blast and if you visit my sister's blog you'll see what I mean. She has always tried very hard to help my kids feel included so she decided to bring the carnival to Germany. In Germany a party is called a fest, a German carnival is a kerwe. We decided to invite some of the girls' friends so that we had a big crowd and lots of competition for the games. The kids had so much fun. Thanks mom!

Lunch, made perfect with hotdogs, chips, popcorn and cotton candy. We also had a day trip this week to an Open Air Museum in Bad Sobernheim. Basically they have re-created a German village that demonstrates what life was like in Germany for the last 5 centuries! The museum is all outside, hence "open air". There are 4 villages within the museum and you can go into houses, barns and other structures to look at life back in the day. Here is a picture of phone books in an old phone booth.
All the kids that came on our outing, so much more fun with a crowd!~We broke away another day for a trip to Holiday Park. It is an amusement park and this particular one's claim to fame is the Free Fall Tower and the G Force roller coaster. I am proud to say that both my mother and I joined in on both of these rides and they were spectacular!
Of course we included the Togisalas and the Rays in our adventurous day. Like I said before, the more the merrier!
Holiday Park is very aware of their mothers since they put one of these right outside the G-Force roller coaster. To be used once before and once after. Smart cookies!
At the end of the day we returned to the Free Fall Tower square where there is a checkerboard that shoots water up and out at random times. The kids had a blast cooling off here:
