Bailey is no longer an elementary student, she is now officially a middle school student. Although this was exciting for her, she has had a lot to adjust to, such as no longer having a home room, moving to classrooms all day long. So far she has done a great job, even with her injured finger. Go Bailey, rock the 6th grade! These are the only pictures I can get, I am not allowed to walk her to class anymore. Sniff, sniff.

The only thing constant is change
Seems like that is my mantra as of late. This school year was a big change in the Frandsen girls lives, both hitting major milestones. Both doing it full of anticipation and excitement.

McKenna is now officially an elementary school student. Kindergarten is the word of the week. She is a big girl, especially now that she rides the big bus. I don't like putting her on the big bus and the only reason we are trying it is because one, Bailey is on it too; two, Mark is deploying and it will help me out a great deal; and three, she wants to try it. I always wanted my kids to have the yellow school bus experience, but it will not happen here. It is the big German transportation buses.
McKenna has come a long way from clinging to us 90% of the days she was in Sure Start to now saying on her first day, "Mom, I'm a big girl now, you don't have to walk me in". My response, "Of course you are a big girl". In my head, "No, no, nooooo, you are still my baby and I'm going to hold on kicking and screaming". I put her on that bus, but then drove to school to meet that bus to make sure she got where she needed to go. I got eye rolling but then was rewarded with a hug.
We found flat McKenna on our walk to class
What did they get for breakfast on the big day?? Oatmeal, (because I'm a mom and the dietitian in me made me do it), but I topped it off with strawberry and mango compote with whipped cream!

this is a great post. I just can't believe how grown up Bailey is. Your beautiful Bailey! What a brave girl McKenna is to ride the bus even if it is green (silly Germans even their buses look cuter then ours). I would have followed that bus too. And that is the best looking oatmeal I have ever seen yummmy
What a beauty that Bailey is! She is wise she will handle things well.
Now as for McKenna, thank you very much for following the bus!!
Glad she is a big girl, but she is still our little one for awhile yet.
Hope the year is filled w/ good surprises and big accomplishments.
Love ya all Grandma Mckenney
Oatmeal sounds great to me! Try putting maple syrup and some nuts too! I know how it hurts to see them growing up. Love-hate for sure!
