This will be our perspective for the next 5 months as Bailey is now an official member of the Kingfish JV swim team. You can see her up on the block in her lime green suit.
Bailey surprised us right off the block as she took first place in her 50 meter freestyle, 2nd place in her 100 meter freestyle, and 3rd place in her 50 meter breast stroke. Yup, that's our girl!
We are learning about the world of swim competition, fast and furious. The lingo is a new language. Even the swim cap has a certain way of getting on the head the right way, hence, three tries before I was able to help her out. Here she is showing her "swim graffiti" which shows her event number, heat number and lane assignment.
Even Mark is getting some training in the world of competitive swimming as he was tasked to be an official timer. Three timers are assigned to each lane. The eliminate the high and low time and take the middle one. You can see him in the next picture, the one on the end, McKenna is standing next to him. I was tasked in the "Bait Shop" which is the snack table for the swimmers. One thing is for sure, I need to find a waterproof case for my camera. Hadn't been there an hour and the bottom of the case was soaked.
This is the video of her 50 meter breast stroke, she is in lane 3 with the dark cap. We get to play the role of the parents bursting with pride, for our daughter has some talent in this area and we will get to watch her blossom and shine in this new world of swimming.
