Oh, no it didn't . . .

. . . but it did. It snowed. Again. Not just a little, a lot. Kid's sent home from school early yesterday and completely canceled today. If there is anyone out there with research grant money sitting in their pocket I am wide open for this one: "The Effects Of Repeated Blizzards On A Stay At Home Mother That Is Married With Children To A Travelin' Musician". Shouldn't be any false positives, after all, I'm a pretty honest person. Shouldn't be any external variables to screw it up . . . cuz . . . I'm stranded. I can probably guess what the hypothesis will be: Little white pills will be necessary or havoc will be unavoidable.
This picture of McKenna (Bailey just dumped snow in her face) could easily describe my feelings about snow: sick. to. death. of. it.
The first couple of snow days were like a little holiday, we had fun. We baked, we watched movies, we bought music downloads cuz we couldn't GO anywhere to spend money. Now it is a prison sentence . . . but what, for the love, was my crime???

We are planning to head to the states in the spring but I would go TOday. It would only take about an hour to throw bags together, less than that to book a flight. There would be no lookin' back. But wait, I'm stranded. I am proud to say that I have continued to exercise regularly through the storms AND I haven't baked myself into a complete sugar and fat coma . . . yet. That is where the little white pills keep me balanced. But I might be loosing that battle as we are having chocolate molten cakes for dinner, DINNER! not for dessert AFTER dinner mind you. Am I keeping the balance? Not so much.

We did plan ahead a little. When last at the library we turned in Wonder Woman and in it's place we picked up the 1st season of "Little House on the Prairie" and the 2nd season of "Project Runway". We have found by watching one episode of the Prairie followed by the next episode of Runway we are fully entertained. There are parallels between the two shows you know. For instance, in Little House the characters are God fearin', bible toting people who are honest, hard working and trustworthy. In Project Runway . . . well . . . okay so that isn't the best parallel. But look at Caroline, she sews. And there sure is some sewing on the Runway. Little House is family oriented, Runway is . . . well Heidi Klum is "with child" during this season. It is riveting going from one to the other, a right good emotional rollercoaster ride, if you will.

McKenna is so ready for our trip to the states. My friend Emily shared this little McKennaism that happened in her car the other day. I wasn't there so it is not word for word but you get the idea:
McKenna, "We are going to the states in a little while to visit my Grandparents. We are going to be there for a long time, probably like 5 minutes.
Emily, "Really?"
McKenna, "Well, probably, maybe a month"
Emily, :"That sounds nice"
McKenna, "It'll be more like 96 sleeps"

Here are a few video shots of today. I'm a little unnerved about the crackling sound that you can hear. I hope it is not my camera's innards coming apart because of the cold. I can predict, with very acute clarity, what would be the result of that: no little white pill in the world could make it all go away.

The snow sure is pretty... Wish we had some. My friends in Maryland and Ohio have been snowed in for a week. They got 40 inches of snow in two days! All we get is inversion. **Cough, Cough**... But, I can feel your pain.

Here are a few suggestions that I thought of to kill some winter time...

The Olympics are starting today... Think up some olympic sports of your own to do... Make some awards and have some fun!

Are you still doing that Baking gals project for treats for the soldiers?

How about learning a new hobby (crocheting anyone? or how about making friendship bracelets or beading)

Let the girls work on their engineering skills by building an igloo or snow fort or snow cave. (You could look up some girl scout websites for some fun winter activities of this nature)

Do you have access to some fleece fabric? Make some blankets for the local shelters or for the church humanitarian services, or maybe some other thing for the humanitarian services.

Write me a letter! Yeah, that's a good one!

Hope you don't get too bored or too snowed in...

Happy Valentines Day!! Love you all... I hope we can catch each other on Skype soon!

Love you,

Aunt Laurie

Now that's an awesome hill! I agree, the first few snows were fun. "maybe church will be canceled fun." Now, that I keep getting stranded here, it's not so fun. The JOKES OVER!

All I can say is SORRY! But Bailey that last shovel throw on McKenna was pretty awesome, except for McKenna!
Hang in there Spring is around the corner (I hope), Grandma

My heart goes out to you I know just what your feeling. Our winter hasn't been as bad as past ones, but I've experienced the dreaded feeling of being stuck due to weather. No fun. Keep your chin up it's almost over and soon you will be here. love you

Drawing a line between Little House and Project Runway.... this my dear Leslie is why I read your blog! LOVE IT! Here's another parallel... ummm... shopping at Mood, much like shopping at the Olson's store.. well, ummm... kind of right?

Remember the burlap sack challenge??? Totally see the parallel in the shows. LOL!

Love the snow, but I know what you mean. It gets old. We also got snow, but not nearly that much. It was still enough to cause everything to shut down. The kids are cute playing in it. Just think, spring is around the corner.
