Wishin' and hopin' and prayin'

Last night as Mark was tucking McKenna in to bed she revealed to us that she and Bailey prayed to Heavenly Father that there would be snow in the morning. We did not tell her it was in the forecast, I thought she was crazy, it has been relatively warm this year. Yeah, okay Bailey and McKenna, you just keep on dreaming. I thought, another hard lesson about prayers that you don't get an answer to. After all, she has been praying nightly (FOR OVER YEAR) that our neighbor's dog Bennie would get to come back to earth. At least she is consistent, but yet, oh so stubborn. Even after an hour had past since the "tuck in", she sang out so confident "When we wake up there is going to be snow", with the word "snow" sung with vibrato with a very high soprano note, oh yea!

So how surprised and shocked were Mark and I as we hear the herd we call "girls" stampeeding into our bedroom at the crack of dawn yelling, "IT SNOWED!"

Yup, it snowed. So much so that we didn't even try to brave the hill that leads out of our village to go to church. We enjoyed our day with outside play, hot chocolate and a Christmas concert by the Mormon Tabernacle choir on TV. It was funny, each time they rolled up a snowball for the snowman, the trail was covered back up in no time with more snow to pack. We also made some ornaments and hung them in the window and on the banister, litle projects that kept getting pushed aside because we have been busy.

Here is another thing I love about Germany, fresh mistletoe, which I never saw back in the states, only dried. It is sold at the German Christmas markets. LOVE IT! Now if only I had a man that would stick around long enough to put it to use . . . maybe someday . . . when we retire.

By the end of the day I think the girls were getting a little stir crazy and caught me at a weak moment, when I'm on the computer and lost in another world. They decided to combine a little art and theater . . . on their toes . . .

Looks like they had a great time today. Wish I could have been there to participate in the fun! Can't wait to get home and try out the mistletoe...

I can't believe it snowed! I wish we could be there! I am so jealous! Which markets are you hitting this year?

We got a good snow today too! And, Gay and I attended this year's Tabernacle Choir Concert this weekend. Twice! So wonderful! Which concert did you see on TV?

It sounds like you all spent your day in a wonderfully fun way. Would love to see the ornaments that you made. It won't be long now until Santa sees them!

Love you all,

Laurie

I love those moments in life when your children provide YOU with the lesson in faith. What a good reminder that prayers are heard!

their prayers must have been heard all the way over here too. We just had our first major snow storm. About 2 feet!!! We tried to make a snowman but that good old Utah fluff just wont pack. I love the toe characters. Fun stuff.
