Following in his footsteps

Bailey amazes me sometimes, well a lot of times, scratch that . . . all the time!

This weekend we were able to attend a major celebration put on for "Month of the Military Child". It is a way to recognize the sacrifice and challenges that military children go through. There were all kinds of kid fun such as bouncy castles, craft projects, face painting, giveaways, and free food! Just the break a "single" mom needs when the weekends are the longest part of the week. Now I'm waiting for the celebration for "Month of the Military Spouse" but I won't hold my breath . . . But think about it, I can picture it now: endless supply of cool babysitters, free movies, pedicures, chocolate, Hugh Jackman (with his shirt off) to be the guest speaker, Ewan MacGregor (shirt off too) there to tell us how much he appreciates us in his lovely accent, John Mayer (you guessed it, shirt off) singing us love songs . . . Uh Hum, back to my post about bouncy castles and face painting.

Bailey was asked by her dance teacher, Jamie, if she wanted to perform her hip hop dance during the celebration . . . solo. I was a little worried. She has only been taking dance since August. She has come a long way and has really found her grove, but still, I want to hover and protect. Jamie assured me she would be great and that she was ready, she was right!

I thoroughly enjoyed this! Watching my little girl full of confidence, strutting her stuff and having fun. She is Mark's child for sure because that confident performance side of her didn't come from me. Sure I was a dancer back in the day but with a group, not solo. That takes guts. Bailey has guts. I love her guts!

Oh, and Leslie, if they ever have a Month for Military Moms and it is like you describe, I would LOVE to be your guest.

Leslie - where is Lenny in your line up of men. I can't believe he wasn't first. I mean I know Hugh is getting big ratings in your eyes these days but I didn't know Lenny was out of the picture.

Bailey - YOU ROCK!!! That was AWESOME! You did so great. I wish I could have saw that first hand. You are such a great kid and you have so many SKILLS sister. I am always admire your courage to go in front of a crowd. You really are a great dancer. You can tell you enjoyed yourself - that is nice to see.

I miss you guys.

What on earth was I thinking?! How could I possibly leave Lenny (Kravitz that is)off my list? I mean I would hate to hurt his feelings and all. He already feels bad taking a second to my dear sweet husband. Despite the fact that he is now getting on in his late 40's (nothing wrong with that), I would invite him to remove his shirt as well, after all, it is for a good cause!

Bailey-I am so proud of you, you have picked up dance so fast....really fast and you kept me on my toes this year with teaching you new "moves" I would not have been able to do what you did on Saturday when I was your age..your an amazing girl, and you make your mom and dad proud of you everyday. (maybe cuz your an awesome and patient big sister also)
I was stopped by two people on my way to the care walking from the stage and they were also amazed that you had only been dancing for a very short time. and one was a parent who is now enrolling her kids in hip hop because they didn't know hip hop was so cool the first year-now your a dance influence!
so again you have made me very proud and I had so much fun dancing with you on that stage.
so thanks for an awesome memory

Bailey,

I didn't get to see the video so I will have to watch it a different time. I am so proud of you. I meant every word I said to you on the phone the other day. I can't wait to see you and give you a big hug. Keep up the good work and I will talk to you soon.

Leslie...the competition is getting a bit more difficult and the numbers are increasing. I don't know how I will be able to compete if I don't return soon...

You go with your military mom day idea. Maybe an anonymous email to the family support center with a link to your blog. For deployed spouses, especially...Their programs are all geared for the kids, but we spend 24/7 with our lovely kids already...maybe one night should be a mom's night out at the spa!
