Lesson Learned

We learned our lesson the hard way this year. Last month we had a snow storm on a Wednesday. Wednesday's are not flexible, we have things to do. That is my errand, lesson, shopping, get it all done no matter what day. You just don't mess with my Wednesday's. When it started snowing last month I thought, "Hum, I'll just pick up this cute little red devil sled and we will use it tomorrow on our down day". I should know by now, German snow melts as fast as ice on cement in the middle of summer. The poor kids were left to glance lovingly at the red devil wondering, "Will I ever have a snow experience?!" We have not lived near snow, ever, since we had kids.

THIS Wednesday was different. I didn't even know snow was in the forecast, but snow it did! Huge flakes; fluffy but sticky, the most perfect snow for kids. Just waiting to be formed into snowmen and for children to gleefully romp and roll in it. I hesitated, I went back and forth, I had things to do! But alas, I learned my lesson, we jumped in the car as soon as the school bell rang out and hustled home. Spent 30 minutes bundling up and I let 'em loose. This is what happens when you learn your lesson, 1 1/2 hours of pure play and I get to use my "nifty fifty" camera lens.

Oh yea, the red devil lived up to the month long torture of the waiting and anticipating. She was a good ride for sure. Wait, why is my red devil a "she"? Huuummmmm
Plus, after the snow play we got to enjoy hot chocolate and a frozen pizza for dinner, I didn't even force vegetables on them! They thought they had died and gone to heaven, but I reminded them that in heaven perfect meals are served. Perfect meals = veggies. That is my kind of snow Wednesday. So, come on Germany, let us have it on a Wednesday forever more.

And I'm happy to announce that I was channeling my sweet sister this day. Take a lookie at her snow experience in good 'ol Utah! I just love her little peanut!

Nice to know we are enjoying the same things even with all the miles between us. I love that the red devil is called the red devil and it's a she. I also love the portraits in this post.

Mark, you look happy, in love, and handsome.

Much love to you all

You have to make the best of the day when it snows. Better to be on the Red Devil than on than the slick roads of a snow storm. Love the pics & can never go w/o hot choco. on a snow day.
Keep building snowmen. LOVE Grandma

What a great posting(I get such a kick out of you)! I'm so glad you could finally use that little red devil. Looks like everyone had a blast. Next time we'll have to get together and enjoy the snow(Tristan still hasn't been sledding).
