Boogie Down Bag

What is the Boogie Down Bag you ask?? Well my friends it is homework! Preschool homework that is, for McKenna. One day while picking up McKenna from school she excitedly gives me a bag for homework. It contains a letter, cd, coloring book with colored pencils. The letter asks that as a family we listen to the cd which contains songs they have been learning in school, then we pick our favorite and write and draw about it in the book. Well, you don't have to ask me twice to spend time with my family. Here are a couple of samples of tunes:

This next one is about Wrinkles on Elephants and I barely caught the funniest part. The woman sings about all the differnt parts of the elephant that have wrinkles then all of the sudden she says that elephant have wrinkles on their teeth . . . pause . . . wrinkles on their teeth?? that is ridiculous. McKenna thinks that new big word "ridiculous" is so funny.

That night was one of many hectic nights and as we started "homework" we said we only had 15 minutes to spare, 45 minutes later we turned the music off. There was magic in the air as the girls realized that they got to stay up past their bedtime to dance and boogie down.

Here is another example of homework for McKenna. We were given a big roll of paper and a picture of McKenna's face that was true to size. We were to make a "copy" of McKenna and then submit a paper of all her favorite things. We had such fun with this because, of course, McKenna wanted her copy to be a ballerina, then it is "JUST LIKE ME".

So I'm enjoying all the learning and play in McKenna's little preschool world and then I find myself asking, "Why can't all homework or lifework be this much fun"?
