Cruisin' on the Rhine

Really I debated about posting this one as my sister and her husband are coming to visit soon and I don't want to spoil it, but all the rest of you deserve this splendid show of mother nature! We spent the day in style, cruisin the Rhine River while we enjoyed heiss schokolade in the morning and eis in the afternoon (hot chocolate and ice cream) all while getting a spectacular view of castles and churches from ancient times. We hopped off at St. Goar and road a tschu tschu train to the Rheinfels castle. You could spend hours in the catacombs, towers and passageways really using your creative imagination picturing life back in the day. What we really needed was a flash light, binoculars and better walking shoes . . . note for next time.

If you look at the new blog title picture you will see my current favorite picture. I LOVE this shot of our train for a couple of reasons, first it says Germany, second it is a Mercedes engine and third it says tschu tschu which sounds a lot like choo choo. In Germany you say "see you later" by saying tschus tschus (who knows the spelling) . . . just so classic.

The Rhine cruise ships really know what they are doing, they have restaurants and bars where you can get cold refreshment and sweet treats. You can hop off and on at your whim to enjoy cute eclectic villages all up and down the river. They have clean restrooms and a kids play area right out in the open. Here is Bailey enjoying the slide and if you look closely in the background you will see us cruising along while she is at play.

Here are some random shots from the day. Check out the RED church. That's the kind of church that makes you want to show up every week, the fact that it is red and the fact that it is called Church for Ladies (just kidding it is Church of OUR Lady but . . . details).

Bailey imagining how it was to be a medival prisioner:

Here is the spectacular view from Burg Rheinfels . . . this is the reason why Rheinland Pfalz tempts us to stay forever!

I'm so glad you posted about the River Tour. It looks beautiful! No spoilage here just makes us more curious and excited to be there. Our friend Jonny B's father was stationed in Simbock (sp?) when he was Bailey's age. His best memories are of the Rhine River so it must be a special place. Can't wait to see for ourselves.

I love the picture by-the-way very sweet and a beautiful Red...

Oh ya, and the Church for Ladies, love it. Can we go? You know the Church in Alta is called Our Lady of the Snow. I really like that these churches are female oriented and in special places.
