Nikolaus kommt

Every year St. Nikolaus (a.k.a. Santa Claus) visits all the good little children in Germany. He asks that you leave your boot outside your front door and he secretly stops by the fill it with yummy sweets. Of course this is a new idea for our children but they have whole heartedly adopted this wonderful German Christmas tradition. Both years we have placed the boots outside the door and as BOTH Mark and I help the children with bedtime chores, our door bell magically rings and the girls find their boots filled to the brim. Each year they are delighted to see yummy German treats that have yet to touch their tongues. What a fun surprise for both their eyes and taste buds. Our German neighbor Manfred always suggests that we place larger boots out so that we might received more sweets. He is especially worried about McKenna's small sized boot. This year Bailey was nice enough to let McKenna use one of her boots so that her "loot" could be just a bit bigger. Isn't it nice that Santa himself stops by to check to see if the girls have been naughty or nice?! He's makin' a list and checkin' it twice, gonna find out who's naughty or nice!
