Berchtesgaden - salt, a nest, a boat!

During my mom's visit we spent a week in Berchtesgaden Germany, deep in the south of Bavaria. We stayed at a military owned lodge with a group of our friends. The lodge was once visited by Hitler and there is a photo of him during his stay in the dining room. Crazy is all I can say.

Our first morning turned out to be beautiful so we knew we needed to spend it at the Kehlsteinhaus (mostly known as Eagle's Nest). Basically it was built as a vacation retreat for Hitler but he rarely went as he was afraid of heights. The view is simply breathtaking!
If you look closely you can see Konigsee lake in the background. We took a boat ride on the lake during our visit. Seriously: nothing could be more beautiful that this area of the world.
This picture actually shows the lodge and the view that is so spectacular.
Ladybug is trying to give her mother (and Grandmother) a panic attack. Seriously, we are so far up we are almost to heaven.
And it is a good thing a strong gust of wind didn't carry our first born away. I think she is just pondering the meaning of life here, either that, or she is thinking "I'm so bored, I wish I stayed back at the lodge with my friends". Probably the latter if I was a bettin' woman.

During our week we also visited the salt mines. We got to take a tour AND wear these stylin' suits.
We threw in some kid friendly fun as well:
I guess our "firepower" stance is a bit contagious. This is part of the boat tour on Konigsee, we got off and walked around a bit and the kids dipped their toes.
Next up? Salzburg baby!

That's just beautiful! You'll have to give me a list of all these great places so that we can visit as well sometime.
