Big Bad Bunny!

Oh how we love this book, Big Bad Bunny by Frannie Billingsley. We found it one day in the library and it thrilled us so much that I had to own a copy. Now we read it about once a week and get lots of exercise from our laughing out loud. The Frandsen's will never tire of this book and the humor that it provides.

So, when we discovered that it is "Read Across America" week, Mark and I jumped at the chance to bring this book into the lives of other children. Did they love it? Well . . . let's get back to that.

Let me preface this by explaining what happens when the Frandsen's go to see a comedy at the movie theater. We (Mark) get EVERY joke. Everyone else, not so much. Or they get it but just don't let it out. They keep that gift of humor locked inside instead of letting it out and giving it life. The Frandsens? we(Mark) are laughing so loud that often we (the girls) just start laughing at ourselves (Mark). Mark's laugh is so super contagious, it is music to our ears.
So back to the classroom. What happens when we get to the punchlines in Big Bad Bunny? Who is laughing? Well, Mark, Leslie and McKenna for sure. A couple of other kids laugh, but I think it is because we are laughing. There are a handful of children that share our humor, bless their hearts. But the majority of the kids are looking at the pages with blank stares of "I don't get it". They ask, "What happened to Big Bad Bunny? Why is Baby Boo Boo wearing bunny ears? Why is Big Bad Bunny now so small? Big Bad Bunny should really brush his teeth" What?! Don't you get it little ones?! Big Bad Bunny is pretending! Makes me wonder if kids these days get to really play.

Oh well, we gave it a good effort. Plus we stayed after and read one on one with the kids. I just love this age! They are so SO great!

Who would have thought that our day would end like this. Members of the band often travel via Blue Bird Buses or the AF vans to the airport or other TDY's in the local area. Most likely, one of our band members will have known the driver from previous trips. So sad, and yet I find myself so angry. For the love?! Why can't we all just get along??

I'll have to get the book. Why did you go top secret? Not because of this post, I hope.

Loved that book , mostly because of the joy of watching McKenna when reading it. Glad you are private.
