This weekend we decided to take the kids to Legoland. It was last minute and worth all the effort, despite the fact that it was so cold. The kids ruled the weekend, whatever they wanted to do, we did it. After traveling so much in Europe with Mark and I guiding the trip (ie. museums, cathedrals and castles oh my), the kids were thrilled to have the run of things.
We went so far as to let them talk to strangers . . . the plastic variety mind you:
Bailey had a bit of a slow start when it came to the rollercoaster rides. Here is her before shot:
and here is her after shot:
The girls also had a little euro change in their pockets and they chose to get their faces painted. Good choice, I'd rather have them spend their money on this, rather than junk food.
We splurged and stayed in the hotel near the park, so they continued their Lego experience into the evening. The grounds around the little Lego houses were decorated with these figurines and they had some rockin' playgrounds too.
I got such a kick out of this little guy!
In the center of the park they have a section called Miniland. It was so interesting! They recreated major cities around Europe all out of Lego's. The detail was super impressive and we found ourselves totally enthralled by it all. Some of the parts were even set in motion, like the gondolas in Venice, cars and buses traveling, trains moving etc. Here is the famous square in Venice:
The detail on the Venice Cathedral was super cool, this was probably my favorite one:
Here is the Neuschwanstein Castle (the Cinderealla castle in Bavaria):
This was Mark's favorite, the Allianz Arena where all the soccer games are played. I think this one had even more detail than the Venice scene which is why I took a close up of what all the spectators looked like. They had music playing and "crowd noise" and then every so often flashes would go off throughout the crowd like camera's in the audience. So cool!
