McKennaism- It's a dirty job . . .

. . . but somebody has to do it.  McKenna thinks it should be me, but I think I have graduated from potty duty since I don't carry a diaper bag around anymore.  Just last night, the same 'ol argument arises in the bathroom.

McKenna: "Mom, pleeeeaaaassssseee wipe me"
Mom: "No, you can do it because you are five"
McKenna: "But it is so disgusting"
Mom: "I know, but everyone has to do it, and you are five now"
McKenna: "I don't want to be five anymore.  I don't want to grow up.  I don't ever want a husband or a baby in my belly!  I want to grow back to two!"  She is sobbing at this point, real tears, real despair.  I am coming back with a calm, cool, collected albeit, reassuring voice.
Mom: "I'm sorry but you can't grow backwards."
McKenna, "Well, then I want to be a kitty cat"
Mom, "Well, kitty cats have to wipe too.  They wipe their behinds with their tongues"
McKenna (she thinks about this for a minute, then gets a disgusted look on her face followed by the look that a great idea has happened which is "Fine, then I'll be a Mermaid"
Mom, "I'm sure Mermaids still have to go to the bathroom"
McKenna, "Nuhua, they don't have bums, remember Ariel and the mermaids in Peter Pan?"
Mom: I got nothin' but a blank look and the steal-like self control to not start laughing out loud and crush her imagination.  "Well, today you are not a Mermaid, and you still have to wipe, but when you are done I will let you sit on my lap and I'll rock you like I did when you were 2"
McKenna is defeated but does the dirty deed because SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT.
