McKenna turns 5!

I've been blog absent for awhile. Busy life, two kids, part-time husband through no fault of his own, new job. Still trying to get out of summer mode.

We had an early birthday party for McKenna this weekend. Mark will be out of town on her true birthday which is Tuesday. Unfortunately on the morning of the party she woke up a little under the weather with fever and a bad cough. But really, the party must go on. I couldn't stand the thought of her having to stare at her presents for a whole week while we wait for Mark to return, especially after waiting so patiently for this day to arrive.

Mom, "Do you feel different?"
McKenna, "I think there is a little 5 in my heart waiting to come out"

McKenna picked a purse cake and I went overboard and made cupcakes to go with it. Mostly because I needed a dose of devil's food with buttercream frosting to tone down the strawberry cake with pink frosting and strawberry ice cream. A grown woman can only take so much pink.

Bailey was so sweet to her. She pampered her all morning while I worked in the kitchen on the cake. She played games with her, tatooed her with princess pictures, painted her nails and helped her pick just the right outfit for the day. She also made her an extra special card and helped me decorate. Every 5 year old needs a big sister like Bailey.

I 'm so glad you had such a great birthday. Your cake was amazing! Everyone should have a sister as great as Bailey! So what was in those presents?
Love to you Grandma Mckenney

Oh happy day!! She is a bona fide five year old babe! Yes I completely agree spending birthdays together would have been the way to go.. why is it always so tough when you have a friend and you know you want to be with them!!? I am baffled.. so come to Utah!! ahh.. well.. Everyone needs a big sister like Bailey, I know Mya does, she commented on it specifically the other day.
