Got 'em! Those Bessie's have been sneaking around, avoiding my shot since our first visit to Bavaria, the first year we moved here. My friend Kristine brought this to my attention when we saw her family on vacation in Garmisch. They were off on a hike to get her a picture of a cow with a bell. It got me thinking, I don't have a shot like that either. We have been back to Bavaria 2-3 times since and no shot . . . til now.
Course we had to go to the top of the earth to get it. When driving from Switzerland to Italy and back, you go through the Alps. Splendid view that I can't even begin to put into words but a little tricky to drive through. The Swiss engineered a great feat with the Gotthard tunnel. There are 3 problems, one, it's 10.5 miles long, which takes about 18-20 minutes to drive through, second because of this tunnel I realized last year that I am in fact claustrophobic and experienced my first panic attack. The third problem is we hit this tunnel when all the rest of Europe was trying to go home from holiday as well and they only let a few cars in at a time. That can give you a 2-3 hours wait, on the autobahn, no potty. That is tough to do.
So our alternative? Take the Gotthard Pass. We. will. never. go. through. the. tunnel. again. There is lots of oxygen, wide open spaces, amazing breathtaking views, a 20 degree drop in temperature and only a 30-25 minute add to driving time. Plus I won't need a sedative. Totally worth it.

Wow gorgeous view. You are such a talented photographer Leslie. I always look forward to seeing the pictures you take.
Say hi to the Bessie's for me. Tink tink.
You always get the greatest shots and well that video is great! I also love the cows and their bells, it really is so classic. Can't wait to see your pictures from Normandy-hope it was great!
Oh, that was so fun to see & hear! I think I heard the bells in the video? And the view, WOW,to think you were on the Alps looking down, amazing.I enlarged the man on the horse pic, that was interesting how lucky to capture him.
Yea, now waiting for the France updates. Love grandma
Those were definitely some loud cow bells. I hear you with the no potty break. That is horrible! Glad you didn't have to go through that.
