This round I am sponsoring Chief Ray. He is the Officer In Charge of the Equipment Readiness Division which includes 10 soldiers. He is on the top row, far left side. Basically they provide equipment and supplies for soldiers in the field for the north half of Iraq. Pretty important business! Here is what his day is like:
His work day begins at 0630 every day. The day goes until about 2000 -2200 hours each day. The other soldiers usually work from 0800hrs till 1800hrs. He has not had a day off since he arrived in Iraq, 3 months now. He tries to get the soldiers half a day off each week. The days are LONG but he tells me that they all prefer that…it means they "are not sitting in their CHU’s (container housing units) feeling sorry for ourselves".
Of the 10 soldiers in his charge, six are married and four are single. Chief Ray is one lucky man as he is married to a wonderful and strong woman and is the father of 7 children. And when he is not being a great husband and father he is constantly looking out for friends and neighbors in need. He wanted me to tell you that "All the support you and your teams gives is GREATLY appreciated".
So come on bakers, get on board and lets drop much needed sunshine in the form of sugar and Christmas cheer onto the souls of these deserving soldiers who are doing their duty above and beyond to support the good 'ol USA! Just hop over to Baking GALS and first, register on the site if you haven't already done so, then second sign up for a team, I think my team is a pretty good one! Make sure you do both steps, register then join a team. I'm already planning my box of sweet treats . . .

Is this Chief Ray the same as you former Bishop that we were able to meet? You can count me in on this one because I was going to try to be domestic for Christmas, so what's a little more, I'll even see if grandma would help me out.
Yup, that's him! If you remember the post I did about McKenna going to preschool and I wrote about the special bishop that she was always willing to go with and sit with, this is the same man. We just think so much of him and his family and it will be fun, fun, fun to drown him in good cheer.
I am guessing I don't have to reup cause it looks like I'm already on the team still. Is that right?
Ready to bake,Grandma
