What the?!

Seriously, today I have proof of two things, one that my child is now the most unpredictable child on the face of the earth and two, because of this I am self diagnosing her with the aforementioned split personality disorder (I don't need no counselors).

Can you believe the only one crying today was me???? That's right people! I even lost a little sleep over how this morning was going to go. It went so well, no crying, clinging or stomping of the feet. Why you ask? Well I have a few ideas. . .

This book, "The Kissing Hand" probably had something to do with it. Brilliant book about a skiddish raccoon that is going to school. His mommy comforts him by giving him a magical "Kissing Hand". The mommy's kiss on his hand stays with him all day and can't be rubbed or washed off. Whenever he feels scared or lonely he can put his hand to his cheek and remember that his mommy loves him and will be there to pick him up after school. What did it for McKenna? The word "MAGICAL", that was all it took. She swears she can see the kiss and I think she is right!

Also, Dad gave her a school blessing the night before, which is a special prayer we can say at the first of the school year to help our little ones. She was so proud that finally SHE was the one in the big chair getting the blessing, she smiled from ear to ear the whole time.

AND, the first friend that approached her at school was, you guessed it, Jasmine. That pretty much made the deal, she has a friend that has a princess name, and it helped that her friend had sparkly hair bows.

And so as I'm looking at my child wide eyed (this time it was me with the deer in the headlights look) as I'm walking out the door, I am comforted as I hear her telling her teacher, "I'm going to be alright because I have a magical Kissing Hand". For now, school rocks in McKenna's little world.

And how at the end of your post there's a smiling McKenna - just over the fussing baby picture! How fast they change...

Okay, I am buying that book now. You are THE THIRD person to tell me about it! Do you think God is trying to tell me something?? I guess I am a little stubborn, no wonder where Nathan gets it!

Love the pics!

Hi Leslie,

So I was just cleaning out our kitchen drawer...I should really call it our junk drawer where I stick papers all of the time and I found the last letter that Abbey wrote to Bailey. Tell Bailey I am so sorry! I will mail it tomorrow. I don't know how long it has been sitting in there!!!

McKenna is absolutely the cutest preschooler! And I love that book. It's brilliant...the kissing hand.
