Mark and I often find ourselves wondering what good things we did to deserve a daughter like Bailey. She is special to us, she is compassionate, loving and kind not to mention the fact that she has a great sense of humor and is highly entertaining. Bailey rocks!
Bailey is also a piano player! Lately she has been struggling with this role in her life. Up to this point piano has been fairly easy for her. She is reaching a more advanced level and is now finding it very challenging, which means more work. It can get discouraging when something becomes harder to do. BUT my dear, as you work and accomplish your goals you will find a great reward in the feeling of accomplishment, and we as your audience will also receive the benefits of your hard work. I just love hearing your little fingers dance on the keyboard!
So I wanted to help provide you with a little motivation and excitement for piano playing.

Did you know that pretty much every bit of music that you hear probably started out on a piano? What you hear on CD's, radio even movies start on a keyboard with a composer plunking out a tune. Did you know that
Beethoven was born in Bonn Germany? So close to us that we should definitely go see his house while we are here, don't you think?

You recognize this CD don't you? It is the cd you listen to every night to help you to fall asleep. The entire CD is piano music by the musician Paul Cardall. I know that you find this music very soothing and enjoy it a great deal, otherwise you would be bored by now and asking for something more. I think it is because it is piano music combined with primary songs and you find a deep connection to both!

Now really, who wouldn't want to play the piano so well that it catches on fire? I know for a fact that this intrigues you, admit it!

And finally, I left the big motivator for the last. Remember Kelsie from High School Musical? If it weren't for her piano playing there wouldn't have been a HSM movie, the whole movie was centered around HER play, HER piano music that she wrote and performed by herself.

And really, this one is a no brainer, a PINK piano in a swimming pool?! Doesn't get much cooler that that! And the fact is, they have to have a piano player to make it all come together. I can just picture you there, move over Ryan and Sharpay, make way for Bailey!
So here is a sample of what I am talking about, Bailey playing the piano, the sound I love to hear in my house! Don't give up! We sure like what you've shown us so far!

thank you mom so much! Mckenna is behind me saying " you are such brillant!!!" (while doing my hair and shaking my head every once and a while)......
I hope she doesn't quit either. Sam quit last year (long story) and it broke my heart. I am still hoping he will come back to it but so far no such luck.
Baily is one talented little girl!
You are so AWESOME Bailey! Keep up the good work because it will just get easier and easier once you do.
Bailey, Bailey, BAILEY, You have to keep playing . That is one of the things I look the most forward to when I come to visit, you playing for me!!!
ANYTHING in life worth while takes alot of effort, but the rewards are 10 fold. Just look at your dad when it comes to pratice & hard work, he loves his gig(work) not to many can say that.
McKenna is right you are BRILLANT on the piano!!
LOVE YA ,Grandma McKenney
That is a great blog and i hate to see kids who do so great give up because it is getting harder. Michelle never gave up and now plays for the singles branch in relief society. I hope Bailey will continue on.
Bailey, please don't give! You are so talented already...just think of how much more BRILLIANT you can become if you keep your heart and mind in it. I miss seeing your shining face whenever your Dad would pick you up from school and bring you to work.
And Leslie, you are so right in that you and Mark have an angel in Bailey! I miss you guys!

Bailey,
Your performance brought tears to my eyes. I LOVE music. Especially piano music. I would give ANYTHING to be able to play the piano. You are a very lucky young lady to have the opportunity to learn and develop such a wonderful talent. Please stay with it so that you can play something special for me the next time I see you.
I love you very much.
Aunt Laurie
PS- Does your mom still tickle the ivories once in a while?
Bailey-
You are wonderful... I loved hanging out with you while we were in Germany. I miss you performing for me. I especially miss the HSM parties we had. You are very talented and I hope to hear more on the blog. Maybe your Mom could keep the videos coming!
Love Ya!!!
Kassie
She is such an awesome girl! I love the piano too but gave up when I was about her age and regret it all the time. Bailey, I hope you can keep it up. It is just a stage of growth, a trial and if you stay with it you will move past the resistance and a whole new experience will open to you on the piano. You will see! Ask anyone that mastered the piano (Tracy Phillips)!
Bailley!
ENCORE, ENCORE!!!!! That was wonderful!!Keep up the good work PLEASE!
Have you ever heard of The 5 Browns? Google them..also, you might enjoy Marvin Goldstein. He has a new CD of primary music out. He is a Jewish convert to the churc and a great piano player. If you need a new CD, let me know and I will send one!
Bailey,
whistle...whoop!whoop! (can you do that at a piano recital?!) I bet your family feels so blessed by your lovely talent. Keep playing! I could so see you at that pink piano! :]
Leslie, how wonderful of you to showcase your children's talents! Thanks for sharing them!
Bailey,
I'm told that you are working on Clair De Lune. That is one of my all time favorite tunes. Will you please be sure to have your mom make a video of you playing that one to send to me? I really would like to hear you play that one. You are WONDERFUL!!!
