I loved this book!
I have decided that when I come across a book that really pulls at my heart strings I want to share it with my friends! Well friends, here is the latest: Finished in 1 1/2 days and had me on the roller coaster of emotions ride all the way to the end. I added my book review from Good reads just for measure. Funny thing is, I found out about this book while reading my Real Simple (have I not said it enough, "Love that mag"). But I put it in the back of my mind and really didn't look too hard for it, after all it was another holocaust story and fictional at that. So how surprised was I when I walked into my sweet little eclectic base library (those that know where I live must know that this library is such a diamond in the rough) and low and behold there it was on the bookshelf screaming at me to take it home, and so I did, and we just had the best time together. I will buy a version for my own and will read it more than once. So here is my review:
Well, I just loved this book! Which says a lot because I went into it a little skeptical, after all who wants to read a fictional account of happenings during the holocaust? Enough horrific things occurred during that time in history that we don't need any fabricated tales. BUT I fell in love with the characters, every single one of them and I want them all to be real and be my friends and neighbors and to love me just like they love Juliet. And I also found that the authors did do research for this book so it is based on real accounts. AND just so you know, I am now going to go to Guernsey via St. Peters Port someday, I'll walk the beaches and window shop in the little town. And I'll try to spot Adelaide Addison and give her a piece of my mind, then I want to be invited to the literary meeting, I would even bring the dessert! That is how much this story draws you in. Loved it!

Leslie,
What is the title? I cannot read the insert. Sounds wonderful!
Same here can't read the title!
MOM
me too-- I want the title-- I love books about the holocaust
I have seen this book and passed it up a couple of times because I wasn't sure what it was about. Next time I see it it will be in my hands.
Is the title "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society"??? I thought that was an interesting title.
Sorry everyone, yes that is the title "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". It is a mouthful. And why should I get on my kids for not paying attention to detail?! AND maybe Mark should now become a pig farmer . . . intriguing!
can't wait to get my hands on it...
Really a pig farm? I don't think you could take the stink...
I'm counting on the ocean breeze takin' the stink out of town. Based on that . . . it is still in the running for our retirement.
Leslie,
I will have to get this book, especially since English books are hard to find around here and I just happened to see it at a local store..AND it was in English. What are the chances?
