Bright sunshine!

The weather here in Germany has been a roller coaster ride the past few weeks, lots of clouds, some white some grey and foreboding. We have been getting rain off and on with a few thunderstorms. BUT inside the Frandsen home there has been nothing but bright sunshine in the form of a wee little one named Ellie:

My sister Danette and her hubby Gary have come to visit! This is the first time we have met Ellie and we are just lovin' her to death. The girls (and me of course) are just about to eat her up, she has been a good sport and let us, and in the process we are making sweet cousin memories and enjoying laughter and playtime. Ellie will turn 1 year old during her visit to Germany so yesterday we celebrated her milestone.

Danette made cupcakes with butterfly's and we even found cupcake holders with little elephants on it to match her nickname, Ellie the Elephant.

During the visit so far we have hiked a barfuspad (barefoot trail) and attended a Medieval festival. The festival was so interesting and I will probably do a whole post on it later. We have introduced them to brotchen, brats and Bitburger as well as the walkplatz and gelato. We have thoroughly enjoyed their company and look forward the the rest of our grand adventures this week.

Glad your visit is going well, don't let the rain stop ya though. Remember we didn't. Was the walking park all you expected? Can't wait to hear about the fest. Ellies party looked fun hope you recorded the cake eating. Love the Schmettlings!
Give all the kids kisses,
Love Grandma McKenney

Please tell Danette hi for me! I need to talk to her when she gets back so I can make sure I do fun stuff like she did when I get over there.

I felt so happy for you and Danette that you could be together and enjoying each others families. It is hard to be away from the ones you love, especially sisters :) Isn't Ellie just the most beautiful little thing.

It is cute to the the cousins together. It is so important to them to feel connected to each other despite the distance.

Give Danette a squeeze for me. I have missed hearing from her on her blog but happy she is with you.
